hdl: I bought some more dell at 31. I will be buying some OCT., 30 calls if it goes below 30. The problem with going short as opposed to long is, a good company will ultimately reach higher prices.
I just don't see we can go wrong here.

hdl, when i shorted dell, it had a very high pe.
I play the other side of the game, but often the lessons learned are the same. I've had some painful lessons not to buy a stock just because it dropped a lot in price (for example I didn't consider going after AAPL today). Just because they drop a lot does not mean that can't drop a lot more. (I increased my Dell holdings at $48 because it just couldn't get any lower).

The same thing goes for shorting. A stock with a sky-high PE, or even PEG will eventually get a more normal PE, but it could be a long time at a much higher price. Anyway a mistake is just a learning experience, unless you repeat it and then it's a tragedy.
