Well said. There is no reason for this kind of thing to hit them like a tsunami.

Whistling past the grave yard....

"But I think this kind of ineptitude is tolerated for a reason- cutthroat brokerage houses aren't known for their forgiving attitude towards incompetence."

I think that the competent analysts, the real hard-nosed number-crunching tough-question-asking analysts, all lost their prestige, if not their jobs, during the irrational buildup toward the tech bubble peak, because they weren't buying the momentum stocks. The young fresh-graduate flaks, who just pushed whatever was hot each day, ended up accidentally making the right calls. So now only the mindless cheerleaders are left.

"Curious- did you buy any AAPL today?"

Yes. I bought some a while back at under 15 (split adjusted), and doubled my position last night after hours at 29. It was a tough choice, but in the end, while I think the tech bubble has plenty of deflating to do, I am betting on Apple's future with OS X, both on the desktop and for the server market.

But it could be painful in the short term!

A great example of analyst stupidity. Two days ago an oil
analyst from Jeffries & Co. decided to up his upside target
for Swift Energy (Natural Gas E & P) to $48 dollars per
share from his previous upside of $33. The only problem
with that was the stock was already sitting at $40 per share

Dahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!.....................
