Scumbria:

Re: Remember back a few months ago when the market was booming, and your Republican buddy AG decided to screw everything up?

At the time you were quite defensive of the Fed, and now that the effects have been felt you have started blaming it on Gore.

I don't know what Jim's response will be, but I believe it is now clear in hindsight that the Fed's moves have been disastrous. There are announcements almost daily about companies blaming poor earnings on the interest rate hikes (including Daimler-Chrylser today).

As for blaming Gore, my opinion is that if he's going to take credit for the booming economy up until now, he's also going to have to take blame for it tanking.

Scumbria, I remember a time when I believed higher taxes was necessary to balance the Federal budget, and that the philosophy of "less government" was just an excuse for greedy corporations to gain more power over the nation.

Those used to be cherished ideals of the Democratic Party. Whatever happened to them?

Scumbria, Gore chose to take credit for the good - why shouldn't he now be stuck with the bad?

Scumbria,
RE:"Remember back a few months ago when the market was booming, and your Republican buddy AG decided to screw everything up?

Get your facts straight.
Greenspan has been raising rates since June 1999. 15 months ago. Oil has pretty much put AG on hold...

RE:"At the time you were quite defensive of the Fed, and now that the effects have been felt you have started blaming it on Gore."

Clinton reappointed AG twice. Not Gore...Gore has just been jumping on the bandwagon but now he'll just try to weazel out. Trouble is the timing is a Gore nightmare.

RE:"That's pretty sad.?
What's sad is Gore trying to get elected by blaming oil and drug companies...
