Another sign of the times...

Registering...not sold yet. However, this is a huge chunk of money for a company like Corvas that has survived year to year on small private placements.

Statement For Common Stock Offering

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Corvas International, Inc. (Nasdaq: CVAS - news)today announced that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the sale of 5,000,000 shares of Corvas common stock in a proposed public offering. The Company will also grant the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 750,000 shares to cover over-allotments, if any.

CIBC World Markets Corp. is acting as lead manager for the offering. Prudential Vector Healthcare Group, a unit of Prudential Securities, and U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray are acting as co-managers. (snip)
