Brian,

I still think the fundamentals for the sector remain strong.

1. We haven't yet seen most of the DRAM makers add substantial capacity. That should keep the sector very busy during the next year or more; and, traditionally, MTSN's best customers have been in the DRAM sector.

2. Communications equipment sector is still capacity constrained and will continue to be a driver for semi equipment growth for as far as the eye can see. ... and probably a little farther than that.

3. Technology buys will add some gravy.

4. 300mm Pilot lines will add substantial growth to the above during the next year followed by Capacity buys as 300mm rolls over into production.

Re MTSN specifically: It will also do well; and I still believe it will outperform most others in the sector - especially from today's close. The street hasn't liked the merger. The street seems to have formed this highly questionable conclusion that Supply and demand will come into balance this year; with overcapacity following immediately. With Steag in the family, it fears that MTSN will not be able to adjust headcount sufficiently quickly when the inevitable downturn comes due to German labour laws.

The street will get the sector, and MTSN right. Eventually.

Ian.
