john,

Jack the Ripper indicates that RMBS is opening up proverbial second front. It makes a lot of sense to go after Transmeta since all they make are laptop processors. Striking at AMD is odd since I am not aware of their focus on SDRAM controllers. VIA, ALI and SIS are next if they don't get an agreement soon. Intel can't be too happy if RMBS continues to sue all the companies that make their revenues by supporting Intel technology and products and/or licensing Intel's IP.

It means that they're either comfortable that they're about to take some of the current lawsuits off the table, or that they're comfortable that they have plenty of money to fight battles on even more fronts. <G> As for AMD, don't they make chipsets? If so, they'd all be SDRAM right now.

I doubt that Intel's going to care one way or the other, as long as everyone pays roughly the same royalties. I doubt it'll have a significant effect on system sales.

Have a great weekend.

Dave
