I find your accuracy with regard to nails (both in running over them, and in describing them), just a bit disconcerting. You have keen observation skills, and I wonder if this focus did not create the problem. You are supposed to look (and steer)away from a potential accident (or in this case, inconvenience). I can picture you picking out the 10d and the 8d nails with your keen vision, and then: DAMN!! NOT AGAIN!! LOL! As far as those other alignment problems, abnormal wear, etc.--an angry tire God is a valid hypethesis.
