No URL, or reference so no point in mentioning specifics. Any link to the story or an article reference would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Otherwise just hype/rumor --worthless. palm.com Name: Doug Solomon Position: Chief Strategy Officer "As chief strategy officer, Solomon is responsible for defining an integrated corporate strategy to leverage market opportunities for meeting customer needs and to drive Palm's mergers and acquisitions and venture investment efforts. He brings to Palm nearly 20 years leadership experience in the information industry, helping to shape the industry through his pioneering work in creating new businesses, products, channels, strategies and concepts. Before joining Palm, Solomon was Co-President of Interval Research Corporation, a laboratory and new business incubator and part of Paul Allen's portfolio of companies. At Interval, he was responsible for commercializing Interval's technology in the form of startup companies, joint ventures and licenses. Previously, Solomon was at Apple Computer for 15 years, most recently as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. In this position, he successfully spun out a number of technologies and companies, made many strategic investments, acquisitions, and negotiated deals with major industry players such as IBM, AT&T, Sun, Oracle, US West, EDS, 3Com, Philips, Sony, Scientific Atlanta and others. Solomon entered the technology industry as head of the world's largest educational software business at Apple Computer. In this role he established new product categories, such as the Logo software family, to change the way computers are used in learning from rote drill-and-practice to stimulation of information gathering and thinking skills. As a marketing innovator, he helped establish a direct sales channel to educators and institutions, eventually boosting market share to more than 50 percent. This channel strategy remains a stronghold of Apple today. Later, Solomon took responsibility for consumer products and was a key member of the team that launched the first product truly designed, introduced, marketed and sold as a consumer PC. He has extensive experience in information appliances, operating systems and licensing, as well as web-based business models and broadband services. His talent lies in the combination of solid business knowledge, experience, leadership, execution and creativity. For many years, Solomon has served as a respected advisor on the boards of firms in which his companies have invested. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Research from Stanford University and also has attended the Chinese Language Program at National Normal University in Taipei."
