flapjack, my biggest concern with union people is not the money they make, etc. but the fact they give less than optimum production in exchange. I have a friend who went to work for a brewery during the summer while in college. He was put to work cleaning vats. The first day he easily cleaned 5 vats. The union steward got him aside and said, "Buddy, if you want to get along here you won't clean more than 2 vats per day." That is unfair, inflationary, and goes a long way toward killing the employers profits. Extrapolated out the cost is monumental.
