Dan,

Q: Wheres the fear. . .
A???: Its interesting to note that since this selloff started on SEPT 1, there has been FIVE 1 day rallys(one was 2 days). Four of which rebounded the NDX about 200 points only to fail and continue down. Thats FIVE in a row, where the rally lasted a big 1-2 days before the selling resumed. Sorry, thats just not a sign of strength. <<<<

Sure its a sign of some fear, but the common characteristics of a major bottom is capitulation in terms of volume and sentiment indicators at extremes. That doesnt mean it has to happen every time either. Sure, theres a chance the market could rally from here, but as I stated before unless a bottom is set with volume and fear, there will still be the threat of the IMPORTANT BOTTOM being set down the road, just postponing it.

This is just subjective, but if the market doesnt set an important bottom I suspect that the market will just continue to be in a trading range. Lets keep in mind that it could be argued that the overall market has been in a trading range for about a year already.

So although these rallys only last 1-2 days, wheres there extreme fear. I guess I have to distiguish between fear and EXTREME fear.
