Me too. On the surface it is a mugging. But I sense there is more to this iceberg then is above the water line. I just don't have a clue what it is. Much conjecture about the fate of the company after the take down.

HDD can justify the merger easily IMO. I think the execution and factory capabilities at Maxtor are best of class. JMO. But there is, of course, the execution on the SAN side which is enormously attractive IMO. P.S. there is a report that the suitor is HP. And we shouldn't forget that IBM is supposedly reviewing their position in the DD space. Imagine that.
