hi tc most kind of you to pass along that symantec bulletin. i have gone over it (with a fine tooth comb!) and it is quite disappointing, on a couple levels. mainly, they are all over the place on the liveupdate version number.... they say in the bulletin, "The latest build of LiveUpdate is version 1.63". but when one goes to the recommended site service1.symantec.com they say, "The current version of LiveUpdate is 1.61.100" then to top it all off? my version is 1.63.20. a bit disconcerting, don't you agree? <g3> for now, i've decided that the best course is to retrieve virus definitions from the download site instead of using liveupdate. liveupdate, until they gets the kinks ironed out, is really like swimming upstream. thanks again for thinking of me with the updates. btw, i do subscribe to that bulletin :) mark
