JC, your depiction of nightmare scenarios is not far from mine. However, I am pretty sure that those scenarios are being considered by the MSFT top brass. .NET maybe a answer to the doomsday future you paint. I prefer to be patient but vigilant... Meanwhile, this "free software" movement is ridiculous. Why should software be free but not hardware or planes or houses ? This idea of "human imagination is not worth anything but factories etc is" is hazardous to human future...
