Lost 7.75% last month in my imaginary Yahoo contest. I think that's the first time in some months that I ended in the red. Rather than try to win the contest, I usually try to pick 5-10 stocks and just hold the entire month. Any of these contests requires very aggressive trading to stay at the head of the pack, thought patterns I'm not sure I want to embrace.

I saw some upside Friday in recently damaged stocks (eg CNF, DOW & AA) despite the indexes ending lower. My bet was those stocks hurt by the weak euro and high energy costs would rebound if either situation were addressed.

May have been window dressing; next week should clarify if we move higher going into earnings or set some new lows. In the meantime, I remain a bit gunshy...
