Not really so far away.....remember the question of the bankers lending money to EU service providers for buildout? Suppose an immediately available solution is being utilized in fact, not in laboratory? HDR? Where will that put the upgrades and tearouts and upgrades using unproven GSM path to 3G?
In the dumper if the bankers see just as much moola coming from cheaper technology which is currently available as an interim to 3G.....HDR is a wildcard and may yet end-run some GSM fanatics.....am I incorrect in this view? If one operator attempts the expensive path and others go for a cheaper path, the loan to the company with the more expensive path will become more risky. My only question is the applicability of HDR for GSM systems, (efficiency and cost).
