Jim - I case anyone thinks I am a softie, I am in favor of "three strikes and you are dead" We just have to define those strikes wisely. Rape, Murder, Armed robbery for starters. Legalize drugs as I said, and the profit is removed. This alone will stop the drug related crime. Severe penalties on the third strike will ensure our prisons will have ample room instead of being a relvolving door, and education programs for 1st time inmates would help as well. This is compassionate conservatism IMHO but one that neither party would ever go along with. Hmmm In retrospect maybe I am an Independent, who in this election will vote for Gore.
