There is an account (true, supposedly) of a guy who knocks on the door of a small computer time share office (remember when those existed). No one answers, he goes to the back door and knocks there. The man is in his most grubby horse-back ridding clothes, has horse manure on his shoes and says, I want to buy some computer time. The guy sez, "We are closed."

"But I need it now. How much does computer time cost?"
"$300 / hour"
"Do you think I could buy 1000 hours of it?"

Rather than be rude, the guy won a contract from Ross Perot to implement the first round of his EDS with leased equipment.

Funny people should judge someone on such a superficial thing as a name or what they studied in school. Reminds me of when my boss looks at this guy's business card (we both have one in our hand) "James S. Kirk Electronic Sales Engineer". I think, "Oh God, Don't say 'Beam me up!'". What does he say? Uh-huh. Beam me up. I lost all respect for him for having absolutely no social sense. He was still technically pretty good, but what a nit-wit.
