Your reference to "Where are the Customer's Yachts" and the brief remarks following remind me of the impetus leading to Glass-Steagall. The swirl around Glass-Steagall is outlined very well in a book called "The House of Morgan" by Chernow. If you had the time, the book is well over 700 pages, I would suggest that you read it. Rather than spend unavailable time, if you have access to a copy then the middle section, from about pg. 302 to pg. 391, would be of interest to you.
