And what is % of those connected via "wireless" is fixed Wireless?
Even smaller.
With current growth few year from now the numbers will be significant. Look how many people were connected with regular 56k modem in 1995 and now. Multiple services offering (voice, internet access, etc) will be the real driving force.
Just fast iinternet is not enough.
However call DSL death b/c of relative small penetration is nonsense.
Until FCC ruling last fall, gave warrants to ROBC that they investment into high speed packet networks(Pronto) will not be wasted
(they do not have to share it with new comers) RBOCs did not have to many incentives to spend money for projects like Pronto.
Look for example at New Edge, one of the fastest growing CELC. They got infusion of 300 million US from MSDW, Goldman Sachs, and few others. The are building new network very fast and another 200 million is ready for further expansion. Entire project is finance by financial int., not vendor.
Also build up of fiber connection will futher increase penetration of DSL and is required at current stage of technolog for VDSL, which can provide many Mbit/s but only for 200-500 m.

Frank what is your take on
"death of DSL"
