ANADIGICS Introduces InGaP HBT Power Amplifier for GSM/DCS and GPRS Data-enabled Wireless Handsets
Voice and data capable power amplifier is the first in a series of InGaP HBT PAs, which will be introduced over the next six months
PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 3, 2000-- ANADIGICS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANAD - news), a leading supplier of wireless and broadband communications solutions, today introduced the first in a new family of 3-Volt, InGaP (indium gallium phosphide), heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) power amplifiers (PAs) designed for GSM, TDMA, CDMA and 3G wireless handsets.

Announced at the European Microwave Week exhibition in Paris, France, the AWT6107 power amplifier delivers dual band (GSM/DCS) voice operation as well as GPRS data services capability in a single, highly integrated module solution. Worldwide Semiconductor Sales Reach New Industry High for 2000

-Driven by Internet and wireless technologies, sales for August 2000 reflect a 52% increase over August 1999-

SAN JOSE, Calif.-- October 3, 2000 -- Worldwide sales of semiconductors once again reached an industry high of $18.19 billion for August 2000, an increase from $11.91 billion in August 1999, which represents a 52.7% year-over-year growth in chip sales, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reported today.

"This is a remarkable year for semiconductors," said George Scalise, president of the SIA. "We continue to see strong
growth for chips used in consumer, Internet, and telecommunications products," he added.

The increase in semiconductor sales was apparent in all geographical regions with the wired, wireless and Internet infrastructure markets experiencing the largest growth in demand. The Asia Pacific and Japan markets grew 60.2% and 53.7%, respectively from last year. The Americas market was up 50.3% from last year, and Europe's sales grew 46.4%."

So as general conditions warrant Optimism, and ANAD's sector specificly, i wonder if now would a good Tim to add to my underwater position, ... but why todays Drop?
