He's got a nice pellet rifle (given to him by a relative who used to work for an ammo company and is a big-time shooter) but I wouldn't consider it "deadly." I've fired it a few times in the back yard. If he wants to buy a .22 someday after he's done with college, that's his decision to make. If he wants to join the NRA someday, that's his decision to make. I got no problem with the majority of what the NRA does. I'm sure the Eddie Eagle program does more good than harm. I do, however, have a big problem with the NRA leadership, its political positions and its "we won't bend on anything" policy. I also think the NRA needs to quit pussyfooting in this election and endorse Bush instead of declining to endorse for possible backlash. That's nonsense. But that's a topic for another day. I don't try to run my kids' lives. All I try to do from time to time is to emphasize, "What's the right thing to do here?"

Why is trap shooting now on the endangered species list?
