Neither political party wants to see a current or past president of the United States subjected to lengthy prosecution in criminal courts. Terrible precedent. That is why Bush, if elected, also may very well pardon Clinton -- but only after letting him sweat for a year or two. Unless, of course, Bush is not controlled by the right wing of the Republican Party. Hot-shot, two-bit, dead-ass lawyers, on the other hand, know if they can take Clinton down a notch, then their careers will skyrocket and they can also write a book, just like David Schippers, and make some serious coin by having said book for sale on Oliver North's Web site.

As I recall, Democrats had very little to say about Ford's pardon of Nixon in '73. It was the right thing to do, to refocus the country's energy, and I have always applauded Ford for doing what he did.
