Yaacov, you have hit on several important points..allow me to underline them...Yes, Americans in their characteristically self-centered (center of the Universe) attitude vote for President and even run for President in the "it's economy stupid" mode...Surely it is a common knowledge elsewhere that US President has at best marginal role in domestic affairs....As for Market Forces, they are precisely so strong in US that Gvn has little ability to influence them....(poor Microsoft shareholders you'll quipp no doubt) But than again MSFT, INTL of the World are going down for the Market Reason more than anything) But that is a digression...The most important reason to elect President (International Status and Importance of US) is not even on radar screen....The most incompetent Administration (ever) can't be even presented to voters as such, that would not even register....So we are b..ing about energy, prescribtion drugs, education (who can believe that President can fix education say in South Carolina? <g>..and on... As for Arafat or Saddam, they have far more power to influence Energy than Al Gore (Despite this Joe Liberman selection..<G> And why this righteous Joe would set-up all the rest of the Jews for this fiasco ticket ..who would be blamed if they really get elected? Monica Levinsky? Mossad?..<gg> Time to short US dollar...
