Zeev...

Interesting viewpoint; but the degree of interpretation from either a Muslim viewpoint, or others - of what was said, or what wasn't and most importantly; why - is open for discussion at best...

Your scenario would make Saddam literally the stupidest man on earth ; would it not ? Did he blindly just walk into his own potential death-trap ? Was he really that easily manipulated by the US; if so; why wouldn't we have marched all the way to Baghdahd and completed the mission - thus reestablishing an even stronger & more strategic presence in the region and eliminated the biologic threat to Mid-East peace, let alone global terrorism ?

To believe that the US gave Iraq the "free pass" to move into Kuwait - an act that surely would spike Oil Markets and did.... leaves much open for discussion as to just what purpose that really served the US - Zeev ?

To play devils advocate: at worse; Bush represents a lessor of two evils (versus the Zionist Lieberman) and a continued Oil Spike - the ability/excuse to pad the coffers of the Royal Treasuries - still an obvious self-serving choice imho.

It should not be lost - that the most opportune time to spike Oil is obviously into the peak demand season; where even small nuances in demand are greatly exaggerated by upward price moves and speculative excess.

Do the Saudi's not have a "free shot" at - "Two birds with one stone" ?

We shall see... my money is on the Saudi's taking the "two-bird, free shot"...in their own self-interest.
