And exactly what qualified Gore to be president? We all know that the Vice-President plays second fiddle to the President... Of course, Gore says that he played an active role in everything this administration has done.... So that means that he was involved in bombing an aspirin factory as a distraction to Monica's testimony.... Involved in launching Desert "Fox" as a means of distracting attention from Clinton's impeachment... And that probably also means that he was intimately involved in setting Clinton up with Monica... <VBG> Or we can say that he was involved in rejecting tort reform, which permits lawyers to collect huge settlements from punitive damages, raising insurance costs for all of us... Or that he was involved in rejecting Welfare Reform two times in a row, until the point where Dick Morris finally convinced them that they had to support it in order to win the '96 election... The list goes on....Bush's Energy poilcy consists of opening the Alaskan frontier(we all know who would benefit from that). And what is wrong with that? Has the environment been irrevocably destroyed by the current drilling for, and production, of oil in Alaska? Are there more Caribou congregating in their calving grounds on the north slope, or fewer? Has their population expanded, or decreased as a result of man's presence in their habitat?WHY ARE LIBERALS OPPOSED TO "BIG OIL" MORE THAN "BIG COPPER/STEEL/GOLD/FORESTRY/CATTLEMEN/DAIRY/TECHNOLOGY/... ETC,ETC... You all like your SUVs just like the rest of us... In fact, you guys like them more because it permits you to go "hang with nature"... Just why is it that Liberals seemingly want the US to import all of its natural resources when so much is available here? Is it that they want other nations to destroy their environment faster due to the needs of meeting the US dependencies on their resources?? I just don't understand this liberal mentality.. Someone tell me that this is just an anomaly in liberal thought.... Please.. As for where the landmines are buried in DC, you have only to look at what happened to Clinton/Gore when they first entered office. They brought in a bunch of youngsters who proceeded to walk all over every established interest group who opposed them. The result was Hillary's miserable attempt at nationalizing health care, and open hostility to these "outsiders".. Btw, most of those young staffers couldn't pass the extensive background checks into their past. So what did the administration do? They lowered the requirements and granted many waivers. Background checks for SBI clearances when from 15 years into one's past down to, I believe, a mere 7 years. And in case you have conveniently forgotten, do you remember Craig Livingstone, the white house personnel security director who's security experience consisted essentially of being a "bar bouncer"?freerepublic.com If you want to know who has the best chance of navigating the landmines, look no further than George W. His father was both President and Vice-President under Reagan... ambassador to China, Director of Central Intelligence... Congressman... Furthermore, he has Dick Cheney who knows where ALL THE SKELETONS ARE BURIED IN WASHINGTON... Chief of Staff under Ford (and btw, HE WAS intimately involved in creating the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, whereas Gore only has delusions of his own participation), congressman, Secretary of Defense.... Yeah... Bush has a far more experienced team of player working for him than does Gore.. Gore brought on Lieberman in order to appeal to a segment of society, not for the purpose of having a qualified leader who could take his place were there a need. Yeah David... I believe Bush has more than enough experience to draw upon. And I believe HE IS FAR LESS ARROGANT THAN GORE . Gore displays his arrogance and contempt for the American people each time he utters one of his "no controlling authority" statements, or self indulgently revises his own resume. Sit back and think hard about this David... I really want to know what you have against "big oil" in light of the fact that we haven't built a new refinery in the US during the past 8 years, and oil imports have continued to rise during this administration. Don't you care about the trade deficit, or which oil imports make up one of the greatest percentages?
