I don't believe Winnifred Skinner receives a pension from the UAW, but rather through the company she worked for, i.e. Ford, GM. Her pension, of course, would be based on the number of years she worked for the company and, as you point out, when she worked for the company.

Look at the GOP Congress rather than the Clinton-Gore administration for reasons why we're not doing more to help people like Winnifred Skinner. Look at GOP efforts to keep a cap on the minimum wage, which, by the way, disproportionately and especially hurts working women in this country.

There will be more people like Winnifred Skinner in the next four years if we elect George Bush president. More pension plans will be raided by unethical corporations seeking to enrich the already rich. More attempts will be made to "squeeze" the American worker even more, so big business can enhance the bottom line in the name of "shareholder value."

You have my word this will happen. Count on it.
