Dear Ish: watched the video on the Jeep and wished I had the Quadradrive instead of the Quadratrac, just assuming I had the Quadratrack. When I got in the Jeep,,, I have Quadradrive. It's almost the same but it locks both axles so all 4 wheels turn.
ALL four wheel drives lock both axles THE DIFFERENCE is that even with the axles locked one wheel getting the least resistance can still spin. Not so with Quadradrive. Even if you only have ONE WHEEL on a decent surface getting traction it is THAT wheel to which the power will be transmitted too. Thats the advantage you have. The disadvantage, if you were an off road enthusiast is that if you were to break an axle with quadradrive you are stuck since entire system interdependent, whereas with the other Jeep 4wheel drives you can shift into the other condition and limp home on one axle. Yes, they are really quick those v-8's. All the popular SUV's where tested last year when Jeep offered their new engine and drivetrain. Your Jeep beat ALL THE REST, INCLUDING THE HUMVEE. JDN
