If possible, check out an article entitled "Cash Machine," in the June 2000 issue of Wired magazine. It describes State Street Corporation's efforts to track the global capital flow you describe by virtue of its' custodial position over $6 trillion worth of assets accounting for 12% of the world's tradable securities. It's a good read -
