RDM get your MIS to do a traffic patterning of your network, Maybe everyobe and his dog does the mail at 4 PM etc. If you can identify consistent low traffic periods....pick them. Most network management systems can generate such reports. Of course someone may pull a 300 meg pig off the central node at anytime. Best way it to transfer the files to your local drive and do that as a background task. when done burn. You can buy one of those new writers and see how it works....be a guinea pig. Tell MIS you must have it yesterday or you will(Read the BOFH for threat tactics here) Bill
