i'm actually hoping that the industry increasingly makes use of this option, i.e. putting mines on care and maintenance until the price improves. since many survive by high grading, and exploration activities are reduced to only the most promising deposits, newly mined supply should eventually begin to shrink, perhaps dramatically. unfortunately, as the author of this article states, once the leasing scam shorts get into trouble, the market will be rigged again in their favor.
