David, I can read you like a book...

Before I even wrote that post, I knew you would come back with the Exxon Valdez incident...

Well, tell me David... Has the wildlife of Valdez harbor disappeared forever?

Are you telling me that no fish, no birds, no otters visit or live there any longer?

What about the Mt. St. Helens eruption that devastated wildlife and destroyed thousands of acres of forest and wildlife habitat?

I don't see you environmentalist doing much about spiriting out those animals in advance of these potential natural disasters.

The point is, yes... there was an accident in Valdez harbor. But it is NOT irreversible, nor will anyone ever be able to know that there was an oil spill there 10 years from now.

And in fact, we see nature releasing such pollutants into the environment as a result of tectonics, or just the fact that it seeps to the surface. If you doubt me, take a look at the LaBrea tarpits as a prime example...

Are you guys cleaning THAT up?

You obviously have little understanding of the natural processes that go on in nature each and every day.....

There is simply NOTHING, short of blowing up this planet through a nuclear exchange, that equates to the damage that nature does to her own denizens.

And why don't you ask the Alaskans about that nice check they get each just for living in the state. It comes from fund that was set up by the state in order to distribute the profits of the oil industry to its residents. And it isn't each family that get their $1,900 check... It's EACH AND EVERY RESIDENT, no matter their age. Almost makes it worthwhile to have a large family... <VBG> I had a roomate of mine from Palmer, AK who paid for his college tuition with his permanent fund dividends.

So David... tell us what YOUR DOING to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels... Are you walking to work? Did you sell your car? Do you have solar heating/cooling in your home?

That's the problem with you environmental liberals. You've just gone WAY TOO FAR to the point where you no longer make sense. It's one thing to make every attempt to reduce environmental damange, or to restore the enviroment after mining or other man-made damage results...

But to completely hold off usage of entire regions of this country just so you can have a place to go hiking is too much...

And besides, there aren't too many of you who hike on the North Slope of Alaska..... LOL!!!
