In the grand scheme is still seems like the need bandwidth will be "where it's at" for years to come, just like the hunger for raw CPU power was before that. (I feel storage will superceed that later on, BTW, as all that data needs a place to be stored...). GLW fits perfectly because they are the largest maker of fibre optic cable. The fibre optic industry seems to be the strongest group in that sector.

This doesn't mean you can't make some money shorting it.
Especially if you think the bear will get all the honey sooner or later.
Cisco has been a sitting duck for a while. It has some formidible competition too...now and in the future...
Whether it can drag down GLW remains to be seen.
