Last time I bought bullion, my experiences tallied with yours, these guys keep a low profile. But my impression was that it was less to do with their profitability and more to do with the desire to shuck off attention from predators. I went to the semi-annual Gem&Jewelry show yesterday, and observed that Golden Eagle, a local outfit, was doing really good business. At the show, they are in a big convention center with a lot of guards. It's a completely different environment when you visit their place of business. You've got to be scrutinized by security cameras and buzzed in, and so on. A lot of what they do is based on trust, it has to be, but the trust has to be earned.

I don't think these guys are hurting. The cut they take off the buy and the sell is phenomenal.
