BabyCenter Growing Up: eToys Subsidiary Announces the Arrival of ParentCenter.com

Award-Winning Web Site Extends Content to Parents of Kids Ages 2 to 12

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2000--To serve the needs of its growing audience of parents, BabyCenter, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of eToys Inc. (Nasdaq:ETYS - news), today announced the arrival of a new addition to its Web site family with the launch of ParentCenter.com, a resource for parents of kids ages 2 to 12.

From the creators of three-year-old BabyCenter.com, a three-time Webby Award-winning site with nearly 2 million new and expectant parents visiting each month, ParentCenter.com will feature the same high-quality approach to content, including helpful experts and a vibrant online community. Parents will also find new features that tap into the collective wisdom of thousands of other moms and dads, and tools created to help parents understand and celebrate their children's unique abilities.

``We've applied the same proven formula to presenting content online at ParentCenter that has made BabyCenter.com the most popular and trusted destination for parents on the Web,'' said Jim Scott, vice president of editorial for BabyCenter. ``And we're also continuing to innovate with new features, including Parents' Picks & Tips and age- and grade-based navigation, so that parents can easily find the information relevant to their children's needs and interests.''

ParentCenter.com is divided into four key topic areas and at launch covers ages 2 to 8 (with information for children ages 9 to 12 coming later this year):

Parenting: Age, grade, and issue-specific strategies and ideas for dealing with behavior, development, and discipline, including a series of articles on ``How to Raise Great Kids.''
Health: Treatment suggestions, wellness and prevention tips, and a Height Calculator.
Fun and Activities: Suggestions for activities based on age and interest, and strategies for how to make the most of time together as a family, including an Activity Planner with hundreds of boredom-busting games.
Learning: Information on how parents can encourage learning by understanding their children's learning style, including a learning styles quiz and grade-specific learning milestones.
``The site will serve as a year-round destination for eToys' audience and the one-third of BabyCenter parents who already have a child over 2,'' explained Mari Baker, general manager of BabyCenter. ``ParentCenter meets the needs of parents who are looking for a one-stop resource that offers ideas and solutions for raising great kids.''

The site will generate revenue through advertising and sponsorship partners. Parents will also be able to find products for their children through the eToys Web site, including the soon-to-be introduced hobby and party stores.
