OTOT

'jim, surely you're smarter than that. When people drink their objective is not to drink themselves into "oblivian". When people use Crack, Coke, Heroin, Acid, Pot, etc., their objective is to get stoned. All people that use alcohol don't get into, neither do they allow themselves to get into a drunken state"

Richard you are starting to sound like Scumbria.<g>

It is possible to use illegal drugs in the same way that alcohol is used. It is simply a matter of dosage. What I was talking about is drug abuse and that includes alcohol and that implies excessive dosage. Lots of students smoke a joint and do their homework and get good grades. Hardly the state stupor that you are putting forth.

Alcohol abuse is a worldwide problem and yet it is legal.
Illegal drugs are also a problem but they are not anywhere near the magnitude of alcohol as a worldwide problem.

"Then I suggest that you read up more on the subject. Contact you local drug abuse center or your police department for information"

Very patronizing of you. I guess you are the drug man.
My point is that such comparisons should be done by expert drug professionals. Reading a pamplet is not going to cut it. It seems you acquired your views of pot from the famous movie "Reefer Madness". <G>

"My point remains historically valid! Prohibition produced a powerful criminal class and so has drug prohibition. You do not have to be even very bright to see that that is true."

"I don't see this as being true so I guess I'm not very bright according to you"

Not good enough Richard! You have to give reasons why it is not true to make a valid point. It not enough to say you do not agree with no counter argument.

Don't worry! I not out to ban alcohol either. We already tried that to no avail.

Richard: You (and many others) are using up a lot of the thread's bandwidth on this subject. I'd like to suggest that it get taken off line, if that's OK w/ you guys. I'd be happy to provide input off line, if you are looking for more than opinion.
