Alex, thanks. <<The analysts name only four survivors: AngloGold Ltd., Barrick Gold Corp., Newmont Mining Corp. and Placer Dome Inc.>> That suggests to me that other than investing for the very long term in gold stocks, buying the takeover, or merger candidates (not the names listed) makes more short term sense?

Alex,

This reply from me to the article you posted, please forward to Ken Benes.

My recollection is that you post url(s) to me
without any comment attached, and also do not
comment even when I reply with comment.

Being that my comment below contains eXtra pro-GATA
material, I feel for sure that you will not attempt
to touch this "container of toxic material" whereas
Ken has already demonstrated his ability to handle
and survive objects that may deliver venomous results.

Longone Richard is also able, but he hunts differently
than you and accomplishes good using other methods.

As for dd I must simply say that he is the "hunted" one,
and yes its just a matter of time before it is determined
who, you or I, gets to place his stuffed head on the empty
and waiting over the fireplace trophy plaque.

Included here is a message to Bill Murphy of GATA
of a scolding tone.

"Hellooooooooo Bill, I been waiting for you to get
your act together and give your followers a better way
to discover and understand the Players in the GATA War."

"Ook Bill? Need Help? Okk, here it is."

"Just as there are things called XAU that are used
as indicators, let you make one call a GATA Indicator."

"What function it/they serve can be determined by GATA
and any of your followers that have suggestions."

"For example, a GAU is like the XAU in that it is the list
of gold producers in the XAU ranked on a scale of 0 to 10
to reflect their GATA public support, with GAU the average.
Might be helpful if the scale was -10 to 10 so that Barrick
can have it rank as a -10 rather than a zero."

"If anyone wishes to expand on this then a table
can be made to calculate a score of each producer
from a summation of items like Donation to GATA
or Public Voice for GATA, and imagine a list of ten
questions like this with a 0 to 10 score so that
a maximum of 100 points is possible, and for example
Barrick's score would be 0+0+...+0 = 0 and a decent
pro-GATA score would be over 75."

To get the ball rolling Ken, could you please
make a quick GAU for the following 4 producers
mentioned in the article? Use scale -10 to +10
and rank each once. Thanks. do:)g

Gold 'mega-merger' predicted
John Schreiner, Financial Post, VANCOUVER

A turnaround is near in dismally depressed gold...

Because gold stocks are so out of favour,
consolidation is gathering steam in the sector...

The analysts name only four survivors:

AngloGold Ltd.,
Barrick Gold Corp.,
Newmont Mining Corp.
and Placer Dome Inc.
