California houses aren't insulated either. It's stoopit. (The newer ones might have some, but that's not the kind we have.) We do have a winter here.

You can tell - the surfers put on their winter shorts.

If I had the gumption and four strong, dedicated helpers, I'd tear out all our drywall and put in
1) that foam insulation that comes in sheets and has more "R" value than Charro's accent,
2) some plywood for shear strength cuz the San Andreas is winding up as we speak, and
3) some heavy fire-code drywall to put some thermal mass on the correct side of all taht wonderful insulation.

But I have neither gumption nor a gang. I travel in large herds of one.
