Maverick Media signs SAG/AFTRA interim agreement for George W. Bush campaign. NLRB Charges Filed Against Stevens & Schriefer Group Dropped

LOS ANGELES --- The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, on strike against the ad industry since May 1, today announced that Maverick Media has signed an interim agreement with SAG and AFTRA covering production of radio and TV commercials for the presidential campaign of George W. Bush.

Mark McKinnon, President of Maverick Media, and Media Director of Bush for President, issued the following statement:

"I'm pleased to announce today that Maverick Media, which is producing the advertising for the Bush for President Campaign, has come to an agreement with the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and has signed the SAG/AFTRA interim agreement. Thanks to a cooperative effort, we were able to reach an understanding that made us comfortable proceeding forward under the terms of the agreement.
Based on Maverick Media's signing of the interim agreement, SAG is withdrawing the unfair labor practice charges it had filed in early August against Stevens & Schriefer Group, another media consulting firm working for the Bush campaign.
"We're pleased that Maverick Media will be producing radio and TV commercials for the Bush campaign under SAG and AFTRA interim agreements, demonstrating their belief in the value of union contracts for this vital advertising work," said SAG spokesman Greg Krizman.
