Mindmeld,

Agree that today's deal gives NT a major advantage when it comes to selling C&W their own equipment.

The truly significant thrust, IMO, is that C&W has outsourced its network provisioning, operations and management to NT. These areas have been extremely costly within the telcos; and not always done well.

I believe that Nortel has established a new line of business not previously tackled by any other company. I further believe that this will be even more significant than the line of business established by Ross Perot with EDS for the outsourcing of data processing operations; or the ECMs such as SLR, FLEX, JBL.

With today's announcement, every board of every Telco is probably asking their Network Operations, Administration and Management staff for an action plan.

Today was only the first shoe from a centipede. There's at least 99 more to follow.

All IMHO,
Ian.
