I was watching INTC at level II the last half hour. The bid at 40 had alot more than 999; probably 5 times that and they kept adding to the bid all the time. They really wanted to hold 40 today. Tomorrow we'll see.
During the last few days I've noticed they always drive the majors higher during the pre-open only to sell them lower into the close. It only takes a couple hundred thousand shares to do this yet it allows them to sell 15 or so million shares during the regular session at higher prices.

<When 40 gets knocked out, there goes the naz.>

Oh, Margaret. I've heard so many "When X goes, there goes the naz" suppositions, it's almost as annoying as the clowns. <G>

(I did say "almost")

When J6P wakes up and realizes the huge f*cking mistake he made by plowing all his money into Janus techfunds in Q1, and begins fund redemptions in earnest, that is when the market will finally "go".

The last few weeks have been a preview, as capital gains avoidance helps dampen fund flows.
