Depends on whether you use IE or Netscape. In IE, there are three subdirectories under the Windows subdirectory you need to clean out, Cookies, Temp, and Temporary Internet Files. You have to click Explore when dealing with Temporary Internet files, because every time you use the browser, it makes a subfolder, and you have to delete them, too. It will tell you that deleting the subfolders will make your computer crash, but it won't.-g-

With Netscape, there is a subfolder called "Cookies" and you also have to clean out the cache. Don't depend on cleaning the cache via Preferences, that won't clean out all the cookies, you have to delete them manually.

I also clean out everything I think can be accessed, like History. This goes beyond merely removing cookies, I try to remove everything that's on the computer that we didn't put there ourselves.

If you've never done this, prepare to be astonished. If I wait a week, I may have hundreds of cookies.

JHP

FYI, easy way to delete cookies (as per Cobalt).
Go to START > FIND > Files & Folders - type in <cookies> and cookie files & folders from both IE & Netscape will show.

If you use Netscape (I do) go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced and you can check a box that says "Warn me before accepting a cookie". You will be amazed how many cookies will pop up on your screen for 'acceptance'. Note: some have to be accepted in order to access the site (ie: SI), however, on those sites, cookies that read doubleclick, etc. do not have to be accepted to access the site. SI used to have a number of add.doubleclick cookies every time you accessed your different portfolios.
