Hey, I'm all for subsidizing medical research... and I think the gov't does quite a bit of that.

Certainly better than spending it on favorite local governmetn "golden fleece award" winners such as the following:

The biggest problem with big government is the "use or lose" premise operating in the budgeting process...

If an agency doesn't use all of its funds in a given fiscal year, they are afraid they will have their budgets cut back..

This mentality inhibits thrift and rewards excess..

And it's not just a liberal mentality... but we most often find it in those who advocate bigger government expenditures.

Sometimes managers need to be forced to meet their required missions WITHOUT having money thrown at them every time they claim they can't manage...

I'm a big believer in governement oversight and waste management.
