got .net? <G>

Not any more. I saw Derek J. Burney the new Permanent CEO of CORL on CNBS and it was a hoot. You can just imagine the conversation.

Ballmer (into the speakerphone during his Swedish massage): So Derek, we have a mole in your organization and we know that you just circulated an internal email telling your employees to sell their blood "as a sensible way to exploit liquid shareholder value".

Burney (into the speakerphone while standing on a chair with a rope around his neck): That wasn't supposed to get out, Steve.

Ballmer: Derek, the deal is simple and sweet. We write you a little check, Corel keeps going, and every couple of weeks you go get interviewed on CNBC and pretend you know what .NET means. That's it. That's all it is. Oh, and of course you do what I say when I say it, but everybody does that anyway. What kind of car do you like to drive?

Burney: Steve I'll have to think that over. (Carefully removing rope, climbing down from chair, and beginning to search among Cowpland detritus for Ferrari brochure). But, my gut is it's a real win-win for both companies. We've actually been having a lot of internal discussion about .NET. We think it's a disruptive technology.

Ballmer: That's what I like about you, Derek. You're an executive. Darlene'll get back to you. (hangs up)

{END}

Another giant step in the annals of computer industry dealmaking. Dumped my CORL this morning at a minor loss.
