Even on boards that are focused expressly on some of these services, the bulls are even complaining about down time and sluggishness

Hmmmmm, I wonder which boards you are referring to <g>.

This morning when I read one of these sluggishness complaints, I tended to agree, because mine was feeling slow as well. Then a few moments later someone posted a reply that included a link to the MSFT speed check site.....and guess what? My "sluggish" cable modem tested close to 1Mbps. I usually don't put too much weight on these test sites....but it was interesting none the less. So what good is it to have an even higher speed connection to a slow Internet server?

I know why you and I want FTTH and I'm certainly looking forward to it.....but, I hate to tell you this, I can't even convince some people I know that are heavy Internet users to upgrade from 56k to a cable modem. Maybe they are waiting for the real deal or maybe the demand in the residential market just ain't there yet. What are they waiting for ......Christmas?
