Campanies who lead ADSL are well prepare for the next wave:
VDSL
The one of major reason ALA have bought NN was not only new IP/ATM routing switching platform, but they advanced VDSL and LMDS.
Even ALA have admitted that on CC in February.

Can you find any more current articles? That one is from September 1999. Anyway, the guy's views are skewed by his distrust for the telcos.

In the meantime the ILEC and CLEC are cooperating on the broadband rollout, either via acquisition or joint venture. IMHO it is a race between CM and ADSL for the bulk of the populace (wireless will have a niche), and the LEC's know they cannot wait and/or continue to fight each other.
