Intel, Jazztel Link Up for ASP Services in Iberia

MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish telecoms provider Jazztel (JAZZ.ED) and U.S. semiconductor giant Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) will jointly develop three data centers to act as application service providers (ASPs) in Spain and Portugal, Jazztel said on Tuesday.

Intel would build Jazztel's data centers in Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon using its technology and support as part of Intel's plan to offer application services via the Internet around the world, the Spanish company said in a statement.

Jazztel said it was investing heavily in data centers to offer e-business and communications services to small and medium-sized business in Spain and Portugal.

It recently launched an ASP project in Germany called Einsteinet, backed by 300 million euros in investment from a group of investors.

Jazztel is building a fiber-optic network around Iberia.

Its shares were up more than seven percent at 28 euros on the Easdaq market in Brussels shortly after 1030 GMT on Tuesday.

Burt, I'm sure you're right about GHz PIII in Long Island. Don't know. Anyway, the world is bigger, believe me. I'm living in Europe (weak demand, I know. <g>), and here the only GHZ stuff you can buy is produced by a competitor of Intel. And demand is strong. And plenty of stuff. But almost no PIII.

Boris

P.S.
Customer: I'd like to buy the GHz ... I've seen in your ad.
Salespers.: Oh, I sold the last peace 5 minutes ago. Only 866 MHz ... left. But here, I have a compatible GHz product (from IBM, Compaq or HP, except ...). It works even better and costs even less. But of course, if you prefer the original GHz..., we can order and in ... weeks, you'll ...

Hint: Isn't there a company paying $ for ads if you place a little product sticker there?

Now, having resolved this riddle, is there a nobel prize in economics waiting for me? Heavy sigh.
