perception, boys and girls.

i perceive...that Nashville's and Brazil's expansion is ill conceived. although current demand supports the expansion, it's a bad idea because the economy is contracting

i perceive that Dell's 30% growth (while peers are gutting out 12% to 18%) is just not good enough for the ill-perceived.

i perceive that IDC's 42% server growth for Dell is old; false hackneyed statements of ill-perceived research throw-up.

i perceive that the pc is dead, even though research is showing that heavy cellphone users tend to be heavy pc buyers.

i perceive that Dell can't compete with EMC; even though Dell states their new RAID competitive products can (liars).

i perceive SUNW will never overtake Dell in revenue, but the very THOUGHT that they POSSIBLY CAN overtake them in eight years is enough to give SUNW over 2X the market cap.

i perceive that rising energy costs will negatively affect pc buying, even though research shows just the opposite - as businesses look for ways to decrease costs through improved technology.

i perceive that while the average age of the mutual fund manager is falling, the average level of intelligence of such is rising

i perceive that finally, for once, John Rogers will be correct on the direction of technology stocks even though he owns few himself and doesn't like using computers

i perceive that Dell is finally dead. it will never again regain supremacy, even though it's growth rate, relative to it's peers remains significantly higher (we're not dealing with facts here - but perception)

i perceive that Dell's business model is no longer valid for the new internet economy because the new internet economy has slowed to a measily 40% growth rate in the Americas (while continuing to grow at an unprecedented 70% in Asia). even though many internet firms are copying Dell's model and coming to Dell for assistance in setting up their model, this is irrelevant as it is too little too late (perception, not fact)

i perceive that all those leased systems Dell received as a "balloon" build in 1997 and 1998 will not renew for new systems (although statistics are currently showing the opposite...again, we're dealing with perception)

all these perceptions, of course, are tongue in cheek. nevertheless, those who are inventing these perceptions, say they don't need absolute justification for their views; doubt sells itself
