>>>The Bush campaign has been acknowledging Gore's skills as a debater, but analysts say they do so to encourage people to focus on issues and not styles in the debate.<<<

Since Bush had done such a poor job of articulating the issues this could well be a mistake. Style is the only thing he has going for him.

The issue came up again re: where that 1 trillion dollars is coming from to fund his Social Security plan.

He's not yet explained how he's going to introduce and fund national school testing standards...other than mumbling something about federal funding on Oprah!

Once a moderator or interviewer nails him on these details it will become apparent he's clueless.

Gore is getting good advice. I am sure that both are well- prepared, and I am very interested in the result. I will say that if Gore gets tangled in policy wonkery, he is toast. People will tune out complicated explanations, and will respond unfavorably to charges made back and forth that will not be resolved in that forum. Simplify, hold one's ground on one's own experts, and give a short, snappy answer to criticism, that is the best way to go. It is also likely to be Bush's way..........

I think he ought to follow his UAW friend's advice and start picking up aluminum cans along the side of the road.knc
