Excellent point Ian.

My guess is Greenspan and Co. didn’t want to spark a stock market rally and are happy with it right where it is.

I think it is the right decision!

Against the background of its long-term goals of price stability and sustainable economic growth
and of the information currently available, the Committee believes the risks continue to be
weighted mainly toward conditions that may generate heightened inflation pressures in the future.

Ian, Its this last paragraph that we didnt need but I guess this can be interpeted in 2 ways. Like Wall Street, there will be no recession, duh. OR Wall Street, we will cause a recession to stop inflation. If they are indeed quietly adding reserves as some have heard, they are jawboning on inflation and secretly fighting the war against recession. Mike
