Elmer,
RE:"Jozef, it's getting a little old asking people to backup such claims but I thought I'd give it one more shot. You are accusing Compaq, IBM, HP, DELL et al of selling unreliable systems using Intel's 1GHz CuMine. Please provide some facts to backup this claim or join the crowd of phoney FUD spreaders."

What does it matter? Intel is snake bit right now, they delay, they recall, they preannounce an earnings short fall...P-III on .18u is pretty much maxed out.
They are down 76 to 40.
OTOH,
They are probably near a short term low irrespective of the "roach effect" that will haunt them for a quarter or two. Merrill Flynch <G> was nearly reached yesterday...another reason for a short term low...

Jim

Elmer,

You are accusing Compaq, IBM, HP, DELL, Gateway et al of selling unreliable systems using Intel's 1GHz CuMine.

Yes. The temperature of the CPU in the case of a computer can easily go over 60 degrees hence an unreliable computer. If these computers were being sold to computer rooms of corporations, that would be probably ok. But inside a residential apartment?

I think there was a poster praising Intel's "stability". Well you are not getting it with 1 GHz Piii CPU.

Maybe with the next stepping....

If you were a completely unsuspecting buyer, I would not fault you for buying one of these 1 GHz machines if you see it at your local retailer. But with the benefit of all the information here on SI, I think it is not wise to know that there is a lemon out there, and to actually buy it. Let the other fools buy it, and just collect your penny dividend from that sale.

Joe
